You find many audio logs and while you listen them you better stay on where you are because some npc might decide talk with you over some speaker two steps ahead. Audio logs, mission brefings, game music and ambient noise is detailed and atmosperic if you consider them individually but when all of them start to play together you can't understand one bit. Not the sound design, that's great but sound mix is another topic. Second problem and by far biggest complaint of mine is sound mix. You always keep going and coming back same places and on top of that enemies keep spawning corridors that you already cleared. There is two: first one is amount of back-tracking you have to do. You have to give this game a try.īut i can talk about bad parts though. I don't want to give much details about System Shock's good parts because it has MANY and simply writing them won't do enough. The game has a nice story albeit ending is obvious from first minute in the game. A ton of weapons and "space magic" is in your hands to use against rogue robots and space monsters. But remember this game is not like a walking sim, you are not a wimp that can only walk/run away throughth the game. Atmosphere is also nice, some people put this game in "horror" catagory. Character builds are important and every skill point counts. System Shock 2's best part is RPG mechanics. Pretty good game and a must play if you are a fan of RPG or immersive sim genres.
